MARC Train - Will operate Enhanced R schedule tomorrow (Monday)

mta_em_hdr_09_2018.jpg

1/2/2022 6:20 PM

MARC Train will operate Penn, Camden and Brunswick Line service on the Enhanced R (or R+) schedule on Monday, January 3 due to the forecasted winter storm. Only trains with an R or R+ under the train number in the Penn and Camden Line timetable and trains in the R/R+ schedule grid on the right side of the Brunswick Line timetable will operate.

Passengers should note that we are working to update the trip planner and live timetable on the MTA website, which also feeds information to the Transit app, MARCTracker.com, and station signage. We will follow up with a message later tonight about how train status will display in the morning.

If you do ride MARC tomorrow, please follow our guidelines for winter weather travel:

--Allow ample time to drive to the station, park your car, and WALK to the train platform

--We strongly encourage passengers to wear shoes appropriate for winter weather. Dress shoes and heels are strongly discouraged.

--MARC Facilities staff will be out treating platforms and parking lots, but some spots may be slippery. WALK slowly and take your time.

--When boarding your train, use handrails to walk through wet or slushy areas. Floors can be slippery.

Thank you for riding MARC Train. Further updates on service will be provided as conditions warrant.

VRE Train Talk Alert  9:00 pm  1/2/22

VRE Currently Plans to Run “S” Schedule on Monday, January 3rd, 2022

Due to the impending winter storm and expected accumulation of snow/ice, VRE currently plans to operate an “S” schedule on Monday January 3rd, 2022. Only trains marked with an “S” on the schedule will operate. See schedules here: https://www.vre.org/service/schedules/

Crews will be at each station overnight treating and clearing platforms and parking lots as necessary. As you begin your commute in the morning, please remember:
1. Give yourself plenty of extra time to get to your origination station
2. Drive slowly to the station and through the parking lots looking out for slick spots, accumulating snow, and pedestrians walking to the platform.
3. Wear appropriate clothing, especially shoes/boots.
4. Walk slowly and carefully through the parking lots, on stairs or ramps and on the platforms. If you encounter ice, slick spots, or other concerns, please drop us a note at Gotrains@vre.org so we can have the issues addressed by our facilities staff or train crews.
5. Upon arriving at your destination station, use the same care while walking on platforms, stairs, or steps so you can arrive safely to work.
Please stay tuned to Train Talk for any additional updates. If further service adjustments are required, we will send out a notification by 4 am.

WMATA press release

For immediate release: January 2, 2022
Metrobus to operate on severe snow service plan on Monday; Non-essential travel discouraged

Metrobus will operate on a severe snow service plan tomorrow, Monday, January 3. Bus service will be limited to major roads only. Delays and increased wait times are likely, and travel is strongly discouraged unless absolutely necessary.

Customers traveling when a severe snow service plan is in place should be aware that Metrobus may have to suspend all service if road and weather conditions worsen and travel becomes unsafe. Consider Metrorail as an alternative when possible.

No weather-related impacts to Metrorail are anticipated at this time. De-icer trains will be deployed and heaters activated to keep the railway free of snow and ice.  (Emphasis added)

MetroAccess expects to provide normal service for its customers; however, customers are encouraged to travel only if necessary. Some trips may experience delays due to road conditions. In the event that door-to-door service is not possible, curb-to-curb service will be provided instead.

Metro customers should allow additional travel time and use caution on platforms, escalators, parking lots and other areas that may be slippery. Metro will have plows and equipment deployed throughout the system to clear and treat parking lots, walkways and platforms.

Modifications to service are possible at any time to ensure the safety of Metro customers and employees. Customers are encouraged to sign up for MetroAlerts text and email messages to receive the latest service updates. Additional service information will be provided through MetroAlerts, on the Status and Alerts page at wmata.com, and on Metro's social media channels @MetrorailInfo and @Metrobusinfo.

VRE Service Alert: 314 delayed 20 min

SERVICE ALERT

VIRGINIA RAILWAY EXPRESS (VRE)

314 delayed 20 min

314 delayed 20 minutes due to a horn issue. Train has to stop and flag every crossing.

I expect the Asst. Conductor is hating life - having to 'step off' and trudge through the snow at every crossing.

WMATA press release

For immediate release: January 3, 2022
Metro service winter storm update as of 11 a.m.

A strong winter storm with heavy accumulations continues to impact Metro service throughout the region. Metrobus service is temporarily suspended and MetroAccess service is temporarily paused with delays expected due to hazardous road conditions. Metrorail service is not impacted at this time; however, some minor delays may be possible to allow de-icer trains to pass through to keep rails clear of snow and ice.

As a result of the current conditions, MetroAccess customers are advised to expect significant delays. Roads throughout the region are in poor condition with low visibility and heavy snow accumulations. While MetroAccess trips are not canceled, service has been paused to allow roads to clear and for weather conditions to improve.

Metro continues to strongly encourage customers to travel only if absolutely necessary. Earlier today, Metrobus service was also temporarily suspended as road crews work to clear snow and treat roads. Metro continues to monitor conditions and will notify customers once it is safe to resume bus service.

Metrorail is operating normal service with trains departing end of line stations every 12-24 minutes. Trains will arrive more frequently at stations served by multiple lines. Customers should allow additional travel time and use caution on platforms, escalators, parking lots and other areas that may be slippery. Metro has crews deployed across the system to clear and treat parking lots, walkways and platforms.

Metro will provide updated service information through MetroAlerts text and email messages, on the Status and Alerts page, and on Twitter @MetrorailInfo and @MetrobusInfo.
