Orlando, FL Sentinel, 7/22/19:

Brightline could stop in Boca Raton by end of next year

A shiny new train station could be on the way for Boca Raton, along with more parking and a walkway over Dixie Highway traffic.

The Real Deal, 7/23/19

Here’s where Virgin Trains is proposing a mixed-use station in Boca Raton

Stations in Boca, Aventura and PortMiami would open by end of 2020

More details have emerged on where Virgin Trains USA plans to open additional South Florida stations, with a possible land-lease between the city of Boca Raton and the high-speed rail company becoming an option.

Virgin Trains previously announced it was adding new stations in South Florida, including Boca Raton, Aventura and PortMiami, by the end of 2020.

The high-speed rail service is proposing a mixed-use station in Boca Raton with retail space and apartments, according to the Palm Beach Post. That project would require the city to sell or lease the land next to its library to Virgin Trains, or would require an amendment to the city’s comprehensive plan and the passage of a development agreement.

South Florida Sun Sentinel, Deerfield Beach, FL 11/30/19

Brightline says it’s on time to open new South Florida stations by next year

Brightline, the high-speed rail system, is poised to check off a critical box on its expansion checklist — adding three more stations across South Florida by next year.

The rail service forecasts its new Boca Raton and Aventura stations will start serving passengers in October 2020, according to its most recent financial filing. A PortMiami station is expected to start service by the end of 2020.

Miami, FL Herald, 5/27/20:

Brightline wants $350 million to build five rail stations between Miami and Aventura

Brightline is in talks with Miami-Dade to build five train platforms between Miami and Aventura and launch a $425 million commuter-rail system as the for-profit rail company plans to launch express trains to Orlando in the coming years.

Details

I have been against any new station stops along this line other than the originally mandated ones in Miami, Fort Lauderdale, and West Palm Beach.  Adding more defeats the purpose of having higher-speed rail that is supposed to eventually whisk people to and from Orlando Airport.  However it sounds to me like these will be commuter rail stops, although my understanding of this article is that another entity other than TriRail would be operating it. I thought that a TriRail Coastal Link up as far as Jupiter was already a solid plan.

South Florida Sun-Sentinel, Fort Lauderdale, FL, 5/27/20:

Brightline seeks to add commuter line with 5 new stations between Aventura, downtown Miami

Brightline’s new plans in Miami-Dade County would, for the first time, bring a commuter rail line to the eastern parts of South Florida.

Miami Today, 7/21/20:

Brightline might bypass five new rail platforms

New commuter rail in Northeast Miami-Dade would have up to five new platforms along Florida East Coast Industries’ line between downtown and an upcoming Aventura station but FECI’s Brightline won’t necessarily stop at any of them, a company executive says.

South Florida Sun-Sentinel, Fort Lauderdale, FL editorial, 11/22/20:

Moment is here to get Coastal Link commuter rail up and running on Brightline

South Florida soon could be closer to creation of a coastal commuter rail line. Such a service would be good for the region, the economy and our battles with transportation gridlock and climate change.

The Next Miami, 12/21/20:

Brightline Reveals Details Of Miami-Dade & Broward Commuter Rail Service, Including Stations

Miami-Dade and Brightline are moving forward with a plan for commuter rail service from downtown Miami to the north (known as the northeast corridor), and now more details of the plan have been revealed by the company.

No mention here of the "T-Word" (TriRail) but they do say one possibility is accepting access fees to allow an operator other than Brightline.
