Sources: City of Charlotte nears agreement for Norfolk Southern rail line

The agreement could pave the way for construction of the Red Line to North Meck as well as a one cent sales tax for transit

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) — Sources confirmed with WBTV that the City of Charlotte has an agreement in principle to acquire the O-Line, which could clear the way for the long-anticipated Red Line to north Mecklenburg. The deal could be completed as soon as September.
