Treasure Coast Palm, Stuart, FL 10/3/17:
Brightline's fifth train headed for Treasure Coast as judge denies permit challenge
Rail opponents' ongoing fight to block permits for Brightline suffered another blow last week.
Administrative Law Judge Bram Canter on Friday denied a challenge — from Martin and St. Lucie counties and St. Lucie Village — to an environmental resource permit for the Miami-to-Orlando railroad.
Canter ruled All Aboard Florida proved it was entitled to the permit, according to Department of Administrative Hearings documents. His decision came two years after Brightline first sought the permit from the South Florida Water Management District and one year after local opponents first challenged it.

Meanwhile, across the country, Brightline's fifth and final Phase 1 train — nicknamed BrightRed for its color scheme — began its journey from the Siemens manufacturing plant in Sacramento, California, to West Palm Beach.
