Note that to get the reduced fare tickets on MBTA, you need to have a pass. This can be obtained at the office inside BBY for free, but must be obtained in person. I'm not sure of the hours though. (The platforms are on one side of the lobby, the ticket windows are in the center and the MBTA office is on the other side of the lobby in the corner.)
Or perhaps someone who has a pass can obtain tickets for you at a TVM. I have this pass, and maybe other Fest participants do also.

One of the unfortunate situations I've encountered in setting up these Fests and putting together the various costs is that often the host transit agency requires that state's documentation to obtain the reduced fare. So one who is visiting from another state and would otherwise be eligible for a senior or mobility impaired discount is automatically disqualified. Whether Massachusetts, in this case, would reciprocate and allow one to show credentials from the participant's home state is unclear.

I myself had no problem getting the reduced fare pass. i do have a disability, but live in RI. But I then had to also visit the office at BBY to have a photo taken for the card (which you get immediately). Like using the QT, the TVM never asks for ID, and I was never questioned on board. So it may or may not work.

If you have a smart phone, there is no need to stop and purchase tickets for MBTA commuter rail. MBTA now has their version of e-ticketing called mTicket. mTicket can be used with iOS and Android smart phones. You download the MBTA app. The app allows you to purchase rail tickets on the phone. You then activate the ticket on the phone app immediately before boarding. The conductor will examine and scan the phone display to validate your trip.

Bill, that was highly awesome. Just downloaded it. Now I only have to deal with my pass for the subway.

With a Blue Line round trip added to the Saturday itinerary to kill an hour before dinner, those paying cash or using Charlie Tickets would end up paying $5 for the round trip, since the endpoint station at Wonderland does not allow one to turn around on the same fare. This may make the 7-day pass more attractive to some of you, and it would also be moot if you had decided to do a 1-day pass for Saturday.
