I am still following the weather forecasts for this weekend in Rochester and Springfield.

According to weather channel.com:

Rochester, snow Sat. high 18 and low 11; snow Sunday high 15 and low 0.

Springfield, Wintery mix Sunday high 28 and low -1; cloudy Monday high 5 and low -6.

The forecast seems to get worse each day with dire forecasts about ice storms (and power outages).

Thanks Kevin for looking out for the comfort and safety of the participants (especially those who are not used to walking, driving (or doing anything) in snow and ice).

I'm sure it will be posted when the Winter Storm Harper forum opens, but the Lake Shore Limited is now cancelled this weekend. That would have ended the Fest, Good move to postpone.

Right here.

This was always one of the fears, aside from safety and health.   Had the train not been totally cancelled as it was, it could have been terminated short of our destination, or severely late.

Webcam in Rochester, NY here.   This location is about 10-12 blocks southeast of where we would have been staying.

Webcams in Springfield, MA here.   Click on the MGM Casino cam, which is closest to where our hotel would have been.

Thanks for the links.  I cannot imagine trying to walk with luggage in either of those conditions.   Again, I think we absolutely made the correct decision by postponing.  Turns out that Amtrak agreed with us.  :)

It was a balmy -3 when i boarded #157 at WNL a few minutes ago.  Icy sidewalks, roads, and an even colder wind chill.

I don't mind being the only nutcase on the train this Monday morning.  I have maybe 50-60 other passengers to keep me company.  A rather light load for a Monday AM compared to #141 on regular Mondays.

Stay warm!  See you'll in March!

BRRRR - enjoy your trip to Florida.  Although we had a cold front yesterday and today, it is much warmer than what you experienced this morning.

Monday 3/25: High 55; Low 36; Mostly sunny; 20% chance of rain

Chance of rain improved to 0%, and highs got a few degrees higher, with the exception of Rochester on Saturday; however we'll be arriving after the normal high temperature time of day anyhow.
