The busiest time for construction activity on Capital Metro's Project Connect plan to expand public transportation in the city is likely to start around 2024. That is when the largest and most expensive pieces of the plan—light rail lines running through downtown to North Austin, South Austin and the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport—are expected to start work.
