The update I am seeing is not so great for Rochester. Weather.com
Rochester:
Saturday: AM snow showers/wind; H36/L28; precip 50%
Sunday: Mostly sunny; H48; L38; precip 0%
Springfield:
Sunday: Mostly sunny; H56/L35; precip 0%
Monday: PM Showers; H50/L26; precip 40%
(I am trying to decide whether to bring my down jacket or my coat).

Remember we're not going to be in Rochester until late afternoon on Saturday. By then the morning snow showers, which at 50% means they have no idea whether they will occur or not, will be past. Snow showers for those who don't come from snowy places, usually are not an accumulating snow -- just a wet snow that will melt on contact. If the 36 high holds there would be no trace of it (unless there is still residual from the winter on the ground up there) by the time we arrive. The big story however might be the wind -- if it's strong then the wind chill factor would make the temperature (likely by that time having dropped from the high) feel colder. So I'd advise bringing the item that would keep you most warm. It can always be shed or left open if it gets warmer. If we're deaing with 50's by Sunday or Monday, a heavy coat still won't feel uncomfortable.

Looks like it's going to be windy in Rochester. Agree on the snow - this time of year, it likely won't be sticking unless it's below freezing, and it'll be fairly light if they're not trying to predict accumulation amount. Main thing to take note of is sidewalks may be slippery overnight when it dips below freezing until there's been time in the morning for it to thaw back out.

Thanks Kevin and Jeb. Based on the fact that I am not used to cold and windy weather, I have opted to bring my coat instead of my jacket. Fortunately it is "puffy" and fit into my small roller bag.
I am leaving for SunRail, which will take me to Amtrak, soon.

I know everyone was focusing on Saturday in Rochester, and that i said there should not be much snow other than snow showers earlier in the day before we arrive. I looked at the weather for Friday, and late in the day they are expecting temperatures below freezing and precipitation at the same time, so they may have some accumulation on the ground. Whether it gets warm enough and the sun comes out enough after the storm ends on Saturday will dictate whether we see snow on the ground. Syracuse and Utica, which we will be passing through on Saturday westbound and Sunday eastbound, are closer to the coastal storm that is currently in progress, so they likely will see worse than Rochester gets.

Here in Springfield, the Sunday forecasts and Monday Jebr posted pretty much agree with what the local TV weather forecasters are saying, except one is way off saying 27 degrees on Sunday night, after mid-50s during the day. Light rain Monday AM. I'd expect upper 30s to lower 40s Monday AM.
As far as snow goes, other than the largest of snow piles like a Walmart parking lot, it's GONE in Springfield! We hit 67 degrees one day this week, but it was mostly gone already.
However, the local TV forecasters are predicting 3-6" of new snow tonight in the Berkshires, with maybe a trace to 1" here in the Connecticut River Valley. But with mid-50s for Sunday, the Springfield snow, if any, will be gone. So, expect to see some snow as you go through the mountains between Albany and Springfield!
See Y'all Monday morning!

Looking at this webcam in Rochester, around 12 midnight Friday night into Saturday, there is some snow on the windows of the parked cars, and a little bit on the street.
