I will be flying into Newark late the previous evening getting out of home after the day's working hours.

Just one minor change to the charts, if it is even worth changing the .pdf versions.  Cinda and Dave will now be taking the Lake Shore Limited (49) from SOB to CHI, rather than Capitol Limited (29). However they will be at the station and invited us to step off (29) a moment to say hi at SOB station  That assumes that 49 hasn't passed 29, which is has on occasions.  So you can remove the notation below on the .pdf charts for #29 that they "may be joining us on that train", as they will instead be on the next one.

This morning I got what I now expect might be the first of a few dreaded robo-calls from Amtrak.  Here we go with my post-Fest plans once more.  First victim was my SPI-STL trip on 301, although so far nothing is currently posted on Amtrak's site specific as to what the changes are.  So there may be some sort of Plan B going on in the Chicago area once more, if I can't salvage any of what I had planned for Springfield and St. Louis.

There is a Passenger Advisory for the Lincoln Service on the Amtrak website. The pertinent info regarding your planned trip is:
 

Lincoln Service: July 15 - 24, 2015 Service Changes

During construction, the Lincoln Service will operate normally between Chicago and Bloomington-Normal, and bus service will be provided to and from St. Louis, Alton, Carlinville, Springfield and Lincoln as indicated on the dates below:

Thursday, July 16 through Thursday, July 23, 2015:

- Wednesday, July 15, 2015: Train 307 will operate to Bloomington-Normal, where provided bus service will be provided to St. Louis and all intermediate stations.
- Thursday, July 16 through Thursday, July 23, 2015: All Lincoln Service trains will be canceled between St. Louis and Bloomington-Normal. Bus service will be provided for all trains except Train 300.
- Buses representing Trains 302, 304 and 306 will operate on an earlier schedule. Contact Amtrak for bus schedules.
- Buses representing Trains 301, 303, 305 and 307 may encounter delays due to traffic conditions.

Yup they posted it after  I left home today.  I'll look into something involving just St. Louis and maybe doing the Texas Eagle over its detour route.
