Perhaps we can ask upon arrival just to be certain; but I certainly wouldn't count on them holding luggage at this point in time.
Take care and take trains!

You should be safe once you have your ticket. And by the time you are going off on your own you will have tickets so there is less likelihood of being approached.

I saw that pizza place too. I recall being served lunch on the coast starlight as it departed pdx. I had eaten before boarding but ate a second lunch. Was stuffed the rest of the day.
I have no problem with 2 lunches. However I can't take that risk that I'll miss a meal, so I'd like to eat before we get on the train. With a 2:25 PM scheduled departure, kind of late for lunch anyhow and it's only several hours before we get our onboard dinner. And if by chance the train departs PDX late, well I'll be happier that I had that meal beforehand.

I just added 75 restaurants to my Rails to Restaurants list for Pioneer Square in Seattle.

I frequent Grand Central Bakery/Cafe, which has some veggie items. If you like deli, Salumi and Tat's get very high rating reviews. I've been to Cafe Paloma for good Mediterranean. Il Terrazzo is upscale Italian, very good, not too expensive for lunch.
