A new timetable for the Pacific Surfliner takes effect on Monday, June 6th. (Some of us already found this out when reserving trips on the corridor for July.)
Details of some of the changes (as always, bold black for existing train numbers and bold red for new train numbers):
For the Del Mar horse racing season, some weekend trains run on adjusted scheduled until Labor Day.
- Southbound Train 768 will run approximately an hour earlier on weekends and Train 572 will run about 20 minutes earlier than it does on weekdays.
- Northbound Trains 583 and 591 will run on slightly later schedules on weekends during this period.
Another change:
- Train 566, which runs daily southbound, has been split into 566 on weekdays and 1566 on weekends.
- Train 567, which runs daily northbound, has been split into 567 on weekdays and 1567 on weekends.
Way to use those 4-digit train numbers! Now if only Amtrak could be convinced to do the same for the Keystone Corridor, where for some movements they have already run out of available 600-series numbers. The existence of the Downeasters also taking 600's doesn't help, and that corridor too when it expands after the Brunswick facility opens is out of numbers. 1600's anyone?
