DetailsSouth Texas considered possible route for high-speed rail
A high-speed rail could one day be passing through South Texas, according to a news release from U.S. Rep. Henry Cuellars office which announced a study into the feasibility of a high-speed train throughout the state.
This is not to be confused with the Texas proposal that has the most traction right now, Dallas - Fort Worth. This would run Oklahoma City-DFW Metroplex, Austin, San Antonio, with branches to other cities on the southern end. However it begs for some skepticism, since there seems to be an issue getting even a commuter or regional rail line going in the Austin-San Antonio corridor.
Historically there has been the Texas T-Bone which was a T-shaped route, and the Texas Triangle which was to be just that, a triangular service hitting the DFW area, San Antonio, and Houston. Perhaps progress can be made now that things are being looked at in a more piecemeal fashion.
