And the last official conveyance of this event is completed.

We left Austin 19 minutes late at 9:50 AM on Thursday morning.  It was a very nice trip.  We got 4 meals:  Lunch, Dinner, Breakfast, and Lunch.   Our sleeper accommodations were adequate, and the service was good... not exceptional, but good.    In Fort Worth, #21 was across the platform so station personnel had to deal with both trains at once.  There, and in Dallas, it was in the triple digits, so our time out on the platforms was not comfortable.   In Marshall, we arrived very early and had to wait for the schedule to catch up before departing.

Longview was also reached a little early, allowing some walking outside.  Texarkana came at dusk, our last time to stretch our legs and with the ability to do so in two states.  Sleep time came further into Arkansas.

When we awoke at breakfast time, we were already approaching St. Louis, and arrived there very early. Some switching work had to be done, as 2 private cars on the rear (the same two we had seen taken off the Sunset Limited on 7/16 in Houston) had to be temporarily taken off to allow 2 coaches to be put on for expected heavy ridership.

Up the line we were just a few minutes behind schedule, but due to padding we came to a stop at Chicago's Union Station 1:49 PM, 3 minutes early.
