CN Service Update - 9/5/08

September 5, 2008

GUSTAV UPDATE

CN crews continue to work diligently to restore normal operations to the portions of the McComb subdivision nearest to Lake Ponchartrain. According to current estimates, the subdivision will resume normal operations as of mid-day on Monday, September 08th. According to our earlier broadcasts, service was expected by 1800hrs CDT on Sunday, September 07th. Our efforts have been hindered as a result of further torrential rains, as well as additional track debris. In the interim, customers in the New Orleans area are being serviced via the Baton Rouge subdivision, and impact to our operations is minimal.

Many customer facilities have not yet reopened in areas recently affected by hurricane Gustav. As a result, several embargoes remain in place.

CN is managing its embargo process very closely. We continue to encourage customers to contact us at gustav@cn.ca in order to inform us about their startup plans.

CN's operating plans are ready to serve our customers' needs as their facilities go back online.

This message will be updated on an ongoing basis.

Customers concerned about their shipments scheduled to move through the affected region are encouraged to contact their Customer Service Representative for the most accurate, timely information.

Update Report: Hurricane Gustav

As mentioned in Service Advisory on September 4, 2008, BNSF was staging inbound New Orleans traffic because of the main line that was out of service due to Hurricane Gustav. The main track has been restored back to service. Traffic volume remains high and BNSF will continue to monitor flow to maintain fluidity.

UP Service Update
Monday, September 8, 2008 - 8:00 a.m.

Hurricane Gustav Recovery Continues

Union Pacific's subdivisions in the area affected by Hurricane Gustav remain open and operational, with generator power in place to support signal systems. Union Pacific crews in the area are returning to work, and customer operations are slowly returning to service due to power outages.

Traffic normally interchanged with the CSX at New Orleans continues to be rerouted over Memphis and St. Louis. We will provide updates on our web site as information becomes available.

CN Service uPDATE - 9/8/08
GUSTAV UPDATE

The portions of the McComb subdivision nearest to Lake Ponchartrain were reopened as of 1400hrs CDT on Monday, September 08th. Customers should expect only minor delays as we clear the backlog of traffic.

Many customer facilities have not yet reopened in areas recently affected by hurricane Gustav. In addition to existing startup issues, many customers have elected to remain on hurricane watch until more is known about hurricane Ike's path. While most embargoes have been lifted, they remain in place at certain locations.
