Smoke problem on Orange Line train sparks panic
A wild panic ensued when an Orange Line train was evacuated Monday after it experienced brake issues at the Massachusetts Avenue stop, authorities and riders said.
Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority spokesman Joe Pesaturo and Transit Police Superintendent Richard Sullivan said the brake problem caused smoke at about 5:30 p.m., but no fire.
“Brakes were smoking,” Sullivan said. “People were asked to step off the train.”
