This thread is to discuss your means of travel TO the NYRF events in the New York City area.   How are you getting here?

Because of the need to claim a parking spot at Metropark before they are exhausted, I must start travel at 8 AM Thursday. I'll be taking NJT to Newark-Penn, where I will then board Acela to Boston.  My first encounter with NYC therefore is simply passing under it.

Then I return Friday from Boston with 3 hour cushion in NYC before the evening trip to Plainfield.  I know others are doing similar Boston turns as well, but on different trains or on different days.

I will be boarding 98 on my way to NYP in a few hours.  There are 2 of "us" on that train now and another will be boarding soon.

On 98 now from Hollywood. Last night, I flew from New Orleans to Miami and caught a Tri-Rail up to Hollywood, FL and stayed in a roadside motel near the station. So far the train is on time here in Charleston, SC.

I will be flying in on United airlines. Departs Detroit at 6am arriving in Newark around 7:45AM so cab is scheduled  for 3:30AM which will get me to the airport around 4AM depending on road conditions and traffic.

As is customary before a Fest, I am operating on very little sleep thanks to last minute packing and a  pre-dawn departure.  That was necessary in order to ensure I would have a parking spot at Metropark, which fills up rather early on midweek weekdays.  I took NJ TRANSIT Northeast Corridor to Newark Penn, used spare time to take a spin on the Newark Light Rail (burning up old tickets I had purchased on a Fest in 2006, yes 10 years ago) to Broad Street Station, and am now back in Newark Penn awaiting my 9:30 AM Acela Express departure to Boston.

My travels related to this Fest.  The Fest itinerary is a microcosm of my plan for the 5 days starting today.  I'll update this each day as I can once travels are complete and I'm at a place where I can upload.

I'm now in Boston, which seems a bit out of the way for a guy from New Jersey going to New York, but you all know why I'm here.  Tomorrow (Friday) back to New York to start the official Fest activities.
