Car crashes onto tracks
Officials clear railroad tracks before high-speed train comes through
ALTON — Rescuers hustled Monday morning to treat an injured woman and get her stuck car removed from railroad tracks on which a man died last month when a train struck his pickup truck.

“I was out on the street, and I was the first one there” after someone called 911 at 8:07 a.m., Sebold said. “Obviously I checked on the victim and then I made an immediate call to Union Pacific and gave them the railroad crossing number to make sure train traffic was shut down. (Police) dispatch had started that process to shut down trains, but you never know how fast that is going to happen.”
