METRO Prepares for Harvey's Impact
Tropical Depression Harvey has formed in the Gulf of Mexico and is expected to make landfall somewhere along the Texas Gulf Coast this week.
METRO, along with emergency management officials, are monitoring the changing conditions.
METRO will notify customers through service alerts, Facebook, Twitter and our website of any new developments that may impact transit service. We will consider limited or suspended service depending on weather conditions.
To ensure you receive information as soon as it is available, sign up for METRO's Real-Time Service Alerts, which deliver information instantly, via text message and email. You can also follow METRO on Facebook and Twitter.

METRO to Continue Regular Scheduled Service Until Further Notice
METRO plans to provide regular service as scheduled, however worsening weather conditions could force service reductions. The agency will continue to provide updates as changes become necessary.
Customers should allow additional time for travel and prepare over the next few days for the possibility of detours, delays, limited or suspended service.

Alert #1: METRO Operations Suspended Until Further Notice
METRO is continuing to monitor the weather and flooding conditions as it pulls all its vehicles, rail and bus, and HOV/HOT lanes - from service. Today's catastrophic weather event has resulted in extremely dangerous and widespread flooding. Conditions have forced the city of Houston and Harris County to shut down all but emergency services.
Riders are asked to monitor current news and weather as well as METRO Twitter and Facebook pages for timely information regarding transit service. METRO also offers real-time information through its service alerts system. Patrons are advised that the Authority operates under the same traffic and weather conditions as the general public so please be patient and know that we will be back on the road as soon as we can safely do so. Please also note the following:
- METRO’s T.R.I.P. app may not be an accurate source of “next bus” arrival during times of schedule fluctuation.
- You may experience delays when calling METRO Customer Service at 713-635-4000 during this period.
- METRO advises riders to monitor local media, and the National Weather Service for weather updates.

Alert #2: METRO Operations to Remain Suspended through Monday
Due to the catastrophic flooding and treacherous road conditions, METRO services will remain suspended the rest of today and tomorrow, Monday, Aug. 28. State, county and city officials have all urged everyone to stay off the roads. There is a high likelihood additional suspensions, delays and detours of METRO service will occur until the inclement weather has passed.
Riders are asked to monitor current news and weather as well as METRO Twitter and Facebook pages for timely information regarding transit service. METRO also offers real-time information through its service alerts system. Patrons are advised that the Authority operates under the same traffic and weather conditions as the general public so please be patient and know that we will be back on the road as soon as we can safely do so.

METRO services will continue to be suspended through Wednesday, Aug.30, 2017 due to unsafe road conditions and flooding. We are continuing to provide shuttles to transport people to area shelters. Alert #4: METROLift Offering Limited Service for Life Sustaining Medical Care, Other METRO Services Suspended Through Wednesday
METROLift service is now available for customers in need of medically necessary transportation only. The service is limited to patrons who need trips to receive dialysis and other life sustaining medical care. Due to uncertain road conditions, it is still possible METROLift will not be able to reach certain areas to pick up patrons. Requests will be handled on a case-by-case basis.
Scheduling METROLift:
METROLift trips should be scheduled one day in advance in the normal manner: Online or by calling 713-225-6716. Due to high call demand, phone delays are possible, and patience is appreciated. Staff is available 24/7 in the METROLift Dispatch Center at (713) 225-0410 to answer any questions.
All other METRO services remain suspended through Wednesday, Aug. 30.

So light rail-wise, the Purple and Green Lines are still totally out of service, and the Red Line is operating all of its downtown and southern segments, but only about half of its northern section.

Beginning Friday morning, service on half of METRO's local bus routes will be restored.
Eighteen additional routes will resume operations along with extension of METRORail Red Line service from Fannin South to Burnett Transit Center. Shuttle buses will complete the route for customers between Burnett and Northline Transit Center. Bus shuttles will also be used for the entire length of the Green and Purple Lines. METRO teams are working around the clock to evaluate and restore service to all of the Authority's routes.
Park & Ride will resume Tuesday, Sep. 5. HOV/ HOT lanes are still being evaluated for service.
