According to local weather forecasters, there is a tropical wave off the coast of Africa that may or may not become a hurricane, that may or may not approach the east coast of the US. It is certainly being watched by the Florida weather forecasters. If and when I hear anything definite, I will post.

I span this off into its own topic, something I do create within a week of the Fest beginning. Penny beat me by a few hours.

Sorry for jumping the gun, but I had just watched the local news and if I waited, I would have forgotten. (That is what happens when you get to me my age  ) Thanks Kevin for finding a place for my post.

Winter Park forecast for 7/15. It is a bit far out to predict, but it does not look awful. Mon Jul 15 86° 73° Scattered T-Storms CHANCE OF RAIN: 40% WIND: SE at 10 mph

I'm tracking this tropical thing too on my weather channel app. Just got back from a cruise on the fascination out of Jacksonville. It's ironic that I'm thinking about hurricanes and train travel.

I'll post some specific city weather reports on certain intervals as the days draw closer. There is already a path for Chantal that has southern Florida in part of its cone, Depending on how it turns north, it could either brush Florida, or go south of it directly into the Gulf. Or it might not get to Florida at all.

Update on Chantal: track has it going west northwest skirting the length of the Florida coast through the weekend into Monday and Tuesday. It looks like it might hit sometime Tuesday into Wednesday after we are clear of the area. It won't be clear weather but it looks like we might be able to beat the storm.

As of Tuesday evening the National Hurrican Center's projection has Chantal over the sotheast coast roughly Sunday evening heading northwest. If this current track and speed holds we pass through the storm while it is still over South Carolina and Georgia.
