Springfield, MA Republican, 5/8/18:

Union Station will get new $8.2 million rail passenger platform by November; MassDOT awards contract to Framingham company

Work will begin later this month on a revamped Platform C at Union Station, and the Massachusetts Department of Transportation expects the 18- by 362-foot platform will be completed by November.

Update here.   Those planning this should hang their heads in shame!   This should have been completed before the opening of the CTRail Hartford Line and the increased Amtrak Shuttle service.  Everyone knew of the May 2018 target date for the past year, and even as it slipped one month until June 2018 they had more opportunity to get this job done. Now the service will start on June 16th with cramped platform space still bogging things down.

I wonder if the Amtrak ticket office move from trackside to downstairs in the station will still take place as planned with the Hartford Line opening, or will it have to wait until the new November target date for the main platform completion?
