Michigan Gov Snyder calls for improved rail connections to Canada Options

Detroit, MI News, 10/31/11:

Gov. Rick Snyder hopes to seamlessly connect freight and commuter train systems with Canada, he told transportation and environmental officials at Michigan Rail Summit 2011 Monday in Lansing.

I believe incorrect use of the term "commuter train" above. The same article later alludes to intercity service between US and Canadian cities. Neither country has anything resembling high speed rail outside of Acela, so it is hard to beleive that HSR would be considered to run between the two countries.

Later in the article there is mention of "high speed bus" between Detroit, Detroit Metro Airport, and Ann Arbor. What happened to the planned commuter rail?
