9/18/03 -- SEPTA READY FOR HURRICANE ISABEL

PHILADELPHIA, PA (September 17, 2003) -- SEPTA is prepared to operate on
regular schedules on Thursday and Friday, September 18 and 19, as the
remnants of Hurricane Isabel are expected to reach the Greater Philadelphia
region.

SEPTA will have added personnel stationed at key locations during the storm
to react to problems or emergencies as quickly as possible. Work crews,
extra supervisors and managers will remain on-duty throughout the storm to
maintain or if necessary restore service on SEPTA rail, trolley and bus
routes, set up necessary detours, and provide assistance to riders.

The SEPTA Storm Center, manned by personnel from SEPTA's operations and
operations support departments, will also be in operation from 5 a.m. on
Friday (September 19) until the storm ends.

SEPTA said that riders should listen to traffic and transit reports on
local radio and television stations for service updates throughout the
day. Riders can also visit the SEPTA website at www.septa.org or call the
SEPTA Travel Information Center at (215) 580-7800 for updated service and
detour information during the storm.
