Metra offers extra service for the Chicago Half Marathon

 

 
(September 20, 2017) - Runners and spectators participating in the Chicago Half Marathon will  have additional travel options this Sunday, Sept. 24, with added service on the Metra Electric Line.

 

Metra will operate an extra outbound train departing from Millennium Station at Michigan and Randolph at 5:45 a.m. and from the Van Buren Station at 5:47 a.m., arriving at the 63rd Street Station at 6:10 a.m. The 63rd Street Station is the closest station to the race’s official start and finish lines. After the event, an extra train will depart from 63rd Street at 10:25 a.m., arriving at Millennium at 10:50 a.m. All other Metra Electric trains will operate on the regular Sunday schedule.

 

“Metra is an easy way for runners and those cheering from the sidelines to get to the Chicago Half Marathon,” said Metra CEO/ Executive Director Don Orseno. “We’re pleased to offer extra service to make the trip even easier.”

 

Metra’s $8 Weekend Pass offers a convenient and affordable option, especially for runners and fans who are taking Metra downtown on another line and picking up the Metra Electric Line at Millennium or Van Buren stations The pass, good for unlimited travel on all lines all weekend, can be purchased onboard trains, at Millennium Station or via the Ventra App, available for free download in the App Store or Google Play.
