Milwaukee streetcar loop to lakefront would be locally funded

The new streetcar spur heading to the Couture on Milwaukee’s lakefront would be city-funded using tax incremental financing.
The proposed new leg of the streetcar would run east along East Michigan Street, loop around at a station at the Couture, and back west along East Clybourn Street. The tracks would connect with the planned first phase of the streetcar at North Broadway and North Milwaukee Street, said Milwaukee city engineer Jeff Polenske.

Decades after the old streetcars stopped rolling in Brew City (in 1958, trainspotters), rails are returning to Downtown Milwaukee streets.

Beginning down the block from the Amtrak Intermodal Transit Station, and across from the U.S. Post Office on St. Paul Avenue, the northbound lanes of Broadway between Clybourn Street and Kilbourn Avenue were closed to traffic.
