There is a subforum with 9 new topics for us to report on various aspects of the Fest. I created these back on July 4th, but I made them invisible to most until now. Since some are beginning their Fest-bound trips today (July 10th), I have enabled the topics. However they are for reporting during and after each segment about how we are doing or how we did, not for how we expect or wish we did. These will be helpful in letting people who couldn't make it know how we are doing, and also to help me when it comes time to do the trip report. For discussion of the worries of whether we will make a connection or not, please continue to discuss it where we are already doing so. In addition, one cannot stop me from "Tweeting", and I encourage those on the trip to do the same. It also is helpful in knowing where we were at a particular time. The Fest itself, which runs from Chicago on 7/12 until Chicago on 7/19 can use the hashtag #otolfest as we have before. This helps us find all messages related to the Fest by searching for that hashtag. Since we expect 6 of us on the westbound Lake Shore Limited on 7/11, we can use it there as well. For your own travels to and from the group, you can use your own hashtag. As an example, I use #kktrip when in travel and will do so both before I meet up with the other 5 people in New York City, and after I leave the group in Chicago on 7/19 until I finally make it home on 7/24. You could use something similar with your initials. I strongly ask you though not to use Twitter as a means of personal text messaging. It was never created as a substitute for texting. The whole world does not need to see individual conversations between people whether both are on the Fest trip or not. I do not, and I fact cannot monitor Twitter all the time during a trip, and if I "followed" all of those who use it, my phone would be going off constantly. So please if you need to contact me or anyone else on the trip, please use text messaging. A contact listing was recently e-mailed to all participants with cell phone numbers that you can store in your phone before the trip if you don't already have them. An updated one will be coming soon.
