500 Metro-North riders stuck for two hours overnight

Some riders took to social media to express their displeasure.

 

About 500 people were stuck overnight for hours on a northbound Metro-North train that became disabled in the Bronx.

 

The New Haven Line train had left Grand Central Terminal at 11:39 p.m. Wednesday on its way to Stamford, Connecticut. It lost power north of Woodlawn station just after midnight because of damage to the third rail, said Metropolitan Transportation Authority spokesman Aaron Donovan.

 

"Normally if a train were to become disabled we would attempt to pull a train alongside it to allow the customers to transfer to a waiting train," Donovan said in a statement. "Unfortunately, the adjacent track was out of service at the location where this happened."
