Charlotte, NC Observer, 3/9/17:
Disappointment mounts over light rail delay, but development expected to barrel on
The Blue Line extension’s opening could be pushed back up to seven months, but that’s not going to stop the flood of new apartments, offices, shops and restaurants planned along its course.

Impressive civil works employing bulkheads, viaducts, and one underpass. There is plenty of parking along the line, but kiss 'n' ride and bus connections aren't evident. There is a bus pull-off, however, at end of line. Sloan

Not specifically about the rail line... but this is pertinent. When any transit agency adds rail lines they reroute their buses so that they don't parallel and compete with the rail service, and rather the buses feed the rail line at stations. From CATS website:
Transportation Fairs at the Charlotte Transportation Center
Beginning March 19, 2018, over 20 bus routes will change and over 700 bus stops will be discontinued, added, or changed!! Make sure that you can get to where you are going!!Beginning March 16, 2018, the 9.3-mile LYNX alignment will extend from 7th Street Station in Center City through the NoDA (North Davidson) and University areas, terminating on the UNC Charlotte campus. CATS has adopted service changes to over 20 bus routes and 700 bus stops have been discontinued, added, or changed.

UNC Charlotte students can ride light rail for almost nothing. Will they pack trains?
When the Lynx Blue Line extension opens in March, UNC Charlotte students will have unlimited rides for $25 a semester, an agreement with CATS that could pack trains and will give the transit system a windfall of $1.1 million.
