INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Indianapolis Public School officials are investigating after a school bus was hit by a railroad crossing arm.

24-Hour News 8 received pictures of the incident, which IPS says happened around 11:30 Thursday morning.

Driver suspended amid investigation into photo of bus at railroad crossing
Bus driver: Student safety was top priority

INDIANAPOLIS - A bus driver spoke out Monday after a photograph of the bus he was driving sparked an investigation.

 

The picture was taken by another driver last Friday in the 300 block of West 10th Street around 11:30 a.m. It shows the bus stopped past the railroad crossing arm, which can be seen resting atop the vehicle.

Officials with Indianapolis Public Schools said five students were on the bus at the time of the incident.

 

The driver, who asked not to be identified, said he was suspended because of the photograph, but he believes he was being safe and the issue lies more within the design of the particular crossing.
