Norfolk Southern is monitoring Hurricane Zeta, which is expected to make landfall on the Louisiana Coast on Wednesday, October 28, 2020. This will impact local service to New Orleans, LA and Mobile, AL. This is also expected to impact interchange traffic in New Orleans, LA. Norfolk Southern will continue to monitor and will provide updates as conditions change.

Hurricane Zeta - Update

Norfolk Southern continues to monitor Hurricane Zeta which is now a Category 2 hurricane that is currently affecting the Gulf Coast and will make landfall along the central gulf coast early this evening.  As flood protections are implemented throughout New Orleans, there will be some impact to interchange traffic traveling through New Orleans and local service in New Orleans and Mobile.  Customers with shipments destined to these areas can expect delays of 12 – 24 hours.  Norfolk Southern will provide updates as conditions change.

Hurricane Zeta - Update

 

Norfolk Southern continues to monitor Tropical Storm Zeta which made landfall on the Gulf Coast Wednesday evening and is currently traveling Northeast across the Norfolk Southern system.  Norfolk Southern Engineering is cleaning trees and debris and inspecting and repairing track in flooded areas as water recedes.  Local operations across Alabama, Louisiana and Georgia may be affected by the cleanup efforts.  Customers with shipments destined to these areas can expect delays of 12 – 24 hours.  Norfolk Southern will provide updates as conditions change.
