Duronto derails on Konkan Railway route, may affect other trains

 

The rear ten coaches of 12223 LTT-Ernakulam Duronto Express derailed at 6.24am on Sunday at south of Madgaon, near Balli station. No casualties or injuries have been reported. However, trains on the Konkan Railway (KR) route may be delayed on Sunday and some could be cancelled as well, officials said.

Ernakulam Duronto derailment: 4 trains cancelled, 5 diverted

 

The LTT- Ernakulam Duronto Express derailment near south of Mudgaon on Sunday morning has resulted in short termination of five trains, cancellation of four, while five have been diverted on other routes and three have been partially cancelled.

Restoration work on, refunds being made: Konkan Railway

 

While Konkan Railway Corporation has made alternative travel arrangements for the derailed LTT-Ernakulam Junction Duranto Express, it has arranged full refund of fare to passengers of Train No. 12133 CSTM-Mangaluru Junction Express, which was partially cancelled between Madgaon and Mangaluru.

That photo in the article is not of the train that derailed. First of all it is not a Duronto Express consist, and secondly it is from the wrong railways, NW for North Western is a railway zone which is nowhere near Mumbai or Ernakulam.
