KCS Service Alert:

Service Interruption due to protests

7/13/2016

Since July 11th, the main line on the Caltzontzin District track has become blocked due to civil protests occurring on or near the Kansas City Southern de Mexico's (KCSM) track impeding our ability to continue without risk to the protestors.

This mainline interruption has impacted specifically the area near Cayacal affecting the service to and from the Port of Lazaro Cardenas.

We appreciate your patience and understanding on this service interruption and the resulting delays. We will continue to update you when the status changes.

The KCSM Customer Solutions team will keep you informed as our operations resume.

Should you have any questions or concerns, please contact us via email at vozdelcliente@kcsms.com.mx and we will be glad to assist you.

KCSM Service Advisory:

Service Interruption Update for KCSM / Map of affected areas

7/22/2016

Since July 11, 2016, civil protests occurring on or near the Kansas City Southern de Mexico's (KCSM) track has impeded our ability to continue to provide regular public freight rail transport service.

Mainline interruptions resulted in a Force Majeure being declared effective since July 11, 2016.

In our commitment to keeping our customers informed, this communication is to clarify that the greatest area of impact is the line that runs from Lazaro Cardenas through Morelia to Toluca. This line is currently blocked and impassable. As a result of these blockages, there are delays and service disruptions throughout the network particularly in the areas of Sanchez, Monterrey, Escobedo and Queretaro. (please see map for reference, blue impassable and green congestion).

There is no resolution date to this blockage which is out of KCSM's control and depends on the intervention and negotiations carried out by the relevant authorities.

Should you have any questions related to this communication, you may contact our KCSM Customer Solutions center in Mexico. CSC analysts will be monitoring the situation and can provide additional information specific to your shipment. We are committed to keeping you updated on the situation and will communicate again when this status changes.

We apologize for any inconvenience and we hope to have resolution as quickly as possible.

Thank you for your understanding.

Status on Service Interruption for KCSM

7/27/2016

We are pleased to inform you that this morning, protestors have cleared the Kansas City Southern de México network tracks. As you recall, civil protests had previously blocked traffic resulting in an impassable main line to and from both the Port of Lazaro Cardenas as well as Toluca.

We are cautiously optimistic on this status and will be monitoring the situation closely.  Today we will begin to move the backlog of shipments in and around these previously impacted areas.  As soon as our network is fluid, we will lift the embargo for Intermodal cargo going to or from Lazaro Cardenas or to/from Toluca.

7/29/2016

We communicated on Wednesday that the protestors had cleared the KCSM network tracks allowing us to move traffic to alleviate the backlog specifically in the areas of Toluca and Lazaro Cardenas. At this time, we can report that we are making progress in alleviating the backlog. As soon as our network is fluid and further protests have been averted, we will lift the embargoes in place.

We remain cautiously optimistic that the mainlines will remain clear but, in matters of civil protests, risk remains. We will be monitoring the situation closely throughout the weekend and will communicate the status again on Monday.

The tracks remained clear throughout the weekend so we are pleased to announce that both the Force Majeure and the embargoes placed on traffic to and from Toluca and to and from the Port of Lazaro Cardenas have been lifted.
