Diesel leaking from Canada train derailment; no injuries

 

A Canadian Pacific Railway Ltd collision in Toronto caused a derailment and diesel leakage that shuttered the track but there were no injuries, the Transportation Safety Board of Canada said on Sunday.

 

Board spokesman Chris Krepski said a westbound train struck an eastbound one that was changing tracks early in the morning near a residential area.

"The incident was a result of human error, so there were no track issues, no signaling issues, no mechanical issues," he said.

Freight train derailment a ‘wake-up call’ on rail safety, councillor says

Human error blamed for freight train derailment in heart of the city after a Canadian Pacific Railway train collided with another on Sunday morning.

 

Human error is being blamed for a freight train derailment in the heart of Toronto Sunday morning that had crews scrambling to contain a diesel fuel leak.

 

The derailment happened after a train struck the tail of another train at about 5:20 a.m. near Dupont and Bathurst Sts., Canadian Pacific Railway spokesperson Martin Cej told the Star.

 

No one was injured in the collision and subsequent derailment  .  .  .

Toronto freight train derailment on ‘major link’ between Port of Montreal, Central Canada

 

A collision between two trains Sunday, about 2 kilometres northwest of the Ontario legislature building, on a freight track serving as a “major link” between Western Canada and the Port of Montreal, is under investigation.
