Column in Durham, NC Herald-Sun, 9/6/18:

Why we need to build the Durham-Orange light-rail line

We live in a state that has made extraordinary investments in infrastructure over the past few decades. Even better, we live in a region that has reaped much of the reward from farsighted investments over that same period. It is for these reasons that the Durham-Orange light-rail transit project is an investment that should be built.

Letter to the Editor in Raleigh, NC News-Observer, 9/13/18:

The current light rail plan isn’t the solution the Triangle needs

The Research Triangle and RDU are great assets for the region and need to be part of the greater discussion on placement for the light rail. The stress put on I-40 and the surrounding roadways because of increased population and more commuting to jobs and activities in Triangle has greatly reduced the quality of life in the Triangle.

Raleigh, NC News & Observer, 11/2/18:

Here are the latest proposed changes to the Durham-Orange light rail. You can weigh in.

Several changes have evolved as transit officials worked out the kinks in the Durham-Orange light-rail plan, including one that would close a downtown railroad crossing and another that would route trains under a major intersection.

The second of three public meetings regarding proposed changes to the light rail project coming to Durham and Orange Counties is set to take place Monday.

Update

The rail could open for business as early as 2028.

A bit disturbing that after so many years of dickering over the mode and the route, now they're talking MAYBE it will be open in 10 years.

Letter to the editor, Duke University Chronicle, 11/19/18:

It's time to support the light rail

Since 2009, I have commuted to work down 15-501 and Erwin Road on a GoTriangle bus. Though I advocate for public transit and its social justice and environmental benefits, my ride to work has been far from a sacrifice.
