Stuart couple seeks 'quiet zone' as Brightline horns affect 'enjoyment of peaceful living'

Municipalities look to Martin County to file 'quiet zone' application

STUART, Fla. — The city of Stuart and the village of Tequesta are looking to Martin County to file a quiet zone application, which would give conductors the option to not blow a train horn.

The special designation, coming from the Department of Transportation, is a dream for Lindie and Al Pulvirenti. The couple said they hear 125 train horns a week, which makes it hard to sleep or enjoy life outside.

Or..... move.     Say, maybe your next home should be near an airport runway under the active path of airline traffic?   The point is, choose wisely where to live.     They live near an already active freight line (FEC) which had to already been producing some train and horn noise when freight trains come through. While yes it increased with Brightline, that had to be a possibility, especially in the past 10 years since Brightline (formerly Virgin and All Aboard Florida) started to be planned.
