Just to alert those who have already made plans to travel home from the Fest on the Northeast Corridor on Monday, January 21st: Until very recently, Amtrak's online inventory showed trains running that Monday on a regular weekday schedule. Based on that, a few of us made reservations to travel on Acela or Northeast Regionals (and also a Keystone in my case). E-tickets were all printed here and ready to go. Now, with the day being the MLK holiday, the schedule was changed so that they are running on a Sunday schedule in observance of the holiday. This means different times and train numbers. They have not yet contacted me to make a change, nor have they done it for me. But my reservations for the weekday train numbers are still in effect at this time despite the fact those trains no longer exist. So you will need to make sure that your return trip on that date is in order before you go. If you are travelling on Sunday the 20th, I would advise double checking that too, as some trains on the Sunday of a Monday holiday weekend have been known to run on Saturday schedules.

Thanks Kevin for the "heads up." I am scheduled to leave Boston on Sunday. Because of limited connections to Orlando, I pretty much only had one choice with the Sunday schedule. I checked the schedule after reading your post and noticed more options, including Acela 2251 leaving at 8:10AM. I phoned Amtrak, and a very nice agent informed me that it would cost me $2.70 extra to switch from regional 161 BC to Acela 2251 BC. I now have a longer cushion of time in NYP, which makes me happy. Thanks again for being on top of things. :)

You see, 2251 is normally a Saturday-only trip, but it also runs on Sunday that weekend. In your case Penny this change worked to your advantage. I really wish I had an Acela option on Monday morning earlier than 11 AM.
