Half-way approach to the Wave streetcar won't do | Letters

Video of editorial board commentary accompanied by text is here:

The "killer" on this project is the lack of connectivity to trip generators.  The editorial board points out that there are no stops at the airport or Brightline.  Plus, as I mentioned previously, the streetcar will creep along on its route in mixed traffic.  Slow speed will be another deterrent to ridership.   Sloan

South Florida Sun-Sentinel, 1/11/18:

Will Broward commissioners kill Fort Lauderdale's Wave streetcar project?

Plans for electric streetcars in downtown Fort Lauderdale could be derailed if Broward County commissioners decide they have had enough of the increasingly unpopular and costly Wave project.

Editorial in South Florida Sun-Sentinel, Fort Lauderdale, FL, 2/3/18:

Don't kill the Wave streetcar, but don’t rush it, either

Fort Lauderdale city commissioners will be asked Tuesday to accept an amended cost-sharing agreement with Broward County that would put the Wave streetcar project back out to bid, the cost of its accoutrements cut by tens of millions of dollars.

Reader opinion in South Florida Sun-Sentinel, Fort Lauderdale, FL, 2/5/18:

Squabbling delays worthwhile Wave streetcar project

Just a perspective: Ten or 11 years ago there was a kick off meeting for the Wave. A representative of the federal government was there to express their support and funding.
