THE RAIL WORLD: MAIN STREET EXTENSION EDITION

This is the true story of the KC Streetcar extending down Main Street through midtown Kansas City, stretching from Union Station to the University of Missouri – Kansas City. Travel along with the project team for an all new experience!

KC Streetcar is proudly announcing The Rail World: Stories of the Main Street Extension. 

Learn about the extension and hear great stories along the way: From fun facts about different neighborhoods around the alignment to all the great businesses you can explore when the KC Streetcar Main Street extension is complete.
 
For the next several months, KC Streetcar will feature different segments along the extension corridor and dive into the history of the areas along the route, explore enterprising businesses in each segment, and imagine how the track will integrate into the surrounding community.
 
The public is invited to participate in monthly Track Talks along the Main Street corridor. Stop by a Track Talk to ask the project team questions, view renderings of the future KC Streetcar alignment and stops, and learn about the latest progress of the Main Street Extension project.    First delivery of 700 tons of rail arrives for extension of Kansas City Streetcar   

 

Trucks will start the delivery of around 700 tons of rail Tuesday for KC Streetcar’s Main Street extension, the KC Streetcar Authority announced.

    Trolley track work begins for the KC Streetcar extension  

 

 

 

 

Construction began this week on the partial relocation of the Harry Wiggins Trolley Track. The track work is the one of the first major projects related to the KC Streetcar Main Street extension.

MAIN STREET EXTENSION OPEN HOUSE SET FOR WED., MARCH 30 

  This is the last public meeting prior to project groundbreaking 

 
(Kansas City, Missouri) – The KC Streetcar Main Street Extension is preparing to break ground! Join with the Kansas City Streetcar Authority, KC Streetcar Constructors, City of Kansas City, Missouri, and Kansas City Area Transportation Authority at a project open house meeting on Wednesday, March 30 from 5-7pm. 

Stop by in-person to view current renderings, learn about upcoming construction activities and schedule, and talk to project team members to get your questions answered. No formal presentation will be given.
 
WHEN: 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday, March 30, 2022
WHERE: Drexel Hall, 3301 Baltimore Ave., Kansas City, MO 64111 
WHAT: An in-person open house for the public to learn more about the KC Streetcar Main Street Extension prior to groundbreaking. If you are unable to attend, meeting materials will be posted on the project website, www.buildkcstreetcar.com. 



Official groundbreaking for the KC Streetcar Main Street Extension is anticipated in early April 2022. The construction of the project is estimated to take two and a half years with passengers ready to ride in 2025. The KC Streetcar Main Street Extension is being built by the KC Streetcar Constructors (KCSC). KCSC is a joint venture between Herzog Contracting Corp. and Stacy and Witbeck, and is joined by Burns & McDonnell and JE Dunn Construction to form the initial construction team. The project is overseen by the joint partnership of the City of Kansas City, Missouri, Kansas City Area Transportation Authority and the KC Streetcar Authority.
