UP Railroad Museum offers passenger train excursion on historic mainline between Omaha and Columbus, Nebraska

The Union Pacific Railroad Museum has announced the 2017 Museum Special, an exclusive chance for the public to travel on Union Pacific’s heritage equipment across the mainline from Omaha to Columbus, Nebraska.

I checked the ticketing website.  There doesn't appear to be food service available on the train.  Too bad, dining on board—even with a box lunch—is a great enhancement to a railroad excursion; especially like this trip that is 4.5 hours long.   :(  Sloan

Just an update on the Union Pacific Railroad Museum Special.

"Ticket holders are invited to a special reception the evening of August 12, 5-7 p.m. at the Union Pacific Museum.  This is a great chance to see the museum at your leisure and meet your fellow excursionists before we depart on Sunday morning. Light refreshments will be served. Dress is casual. The museum is located at 200 Pearl Street, Council Bluffs, Iowa, 51503. (Note:  Train departs from different location).

The Holiday Inn Hotel at the Ameristar Casino, in Council Bluffs, is offering special rates and amenities to excursion ticket holders.  The beautiful hotel and casino is located on the banks of the Missouri River.  Rooms include free wifi, breakfast, parking and  shuttle to and from the boarding site. The shuttle can also be used to attend the museum reception on August 12 at the Union Pacific Museum.  Booking information is available online on our website at www.uptraintix.com."

If any one is taking the California Zephyr from the west to Omaha let me know perhaps we could meet up on the train.
