SOUTH SHORE ANNOUNCES SCHEDULE CHANGES EFFECTIVE APRIL 1, 2017

The South Shore will implement several schedule changes on April 1 affecting 3 evening westbound trains and 6 eastbound trains, primarily in the rush hour.

 

AFFECTED EASTBOUND TRAINS

• Train 15 is being renumbered as Train 17 and departs Millennium at 5:45p making all of Train 15’s previous stops.
• Train 117 will depart Millennium at 5:24p serving Van Buren, 57^th St, Hegewisch, Hammond, East Chicago, Gary Metro, Miller, Portage/Ogden Dunes, Dune Park, 11^th & Carroll Ave.
• Train 217 will depart Millennium at 5:58p making all stops to Gary Metro.
• Train 119 will depart Millennium at 6:15p making its previous stops but will not stop at Gary/Chicago Airport
• Train 19 will depart Millennium at 7:13p making its previous stops but departing up to 4 minutes earlier than scheduled from Dune Park east.
• Train 121 will depart Millennium at 9:05p making its previous stops.

AFFECTED WESTBOUND TRAINS

• Train 20 will depart Miller and all westward stations 1 minute later
• Train 222 will depart Gary Metro at 7:30p and all stations west 36 minutes later
• Train 22 will depart South Bend at 8:15p ET and all stations west 20 minutes earlier and all stops are “d” stops enabling the train to depart up to 4 minutes earlier than the timetable.
• Train 422 will depart South Bend at 9:30p EST
• Train 424 will depart South Bend at 11:15p EST

In addition to these changes we are adding a bike car to westbound Trains 6 and 106; and eastbound Trains 11 and 111.

IMPORTANT NOTICE REGARDING APRIL 1 SCHEDULE CHANGE

To Our Riders: We notified you this week of our proposed timetable change for April 1, 2017. Since our posting, we’ve heard from many of you that the new timetable does not work well for your schedules.

 

We believe this new timetable has a number of advantages.  However, given the feedback we received, we have decided to maintain the train times displayed in our February 1 timetable.

 

We still plan to issue a new timetable effective April 1, 2017 that reflects the expansion of our bikes on trains program to select weekday rush hour service.

 

You spoke and we listened.

New South Shore schedule starts April 1

 

 

South Shore riders can take their bikes on a few rush-hour trains for the first time soon, as new South Shore Line timetables go into effect April 1.

 

More changes could be coming to the trains' schedule this spring after riders have a chance to weigh in, the Northern Indiana Commuter Transportation Board learned Friday.

Noland said the South Shore will draft the proposed changes in April and seek riders' comments.

 

The NICTD board will examine the proposal at its May 12 meeting, and any changes approved then would go into effect July 1.
