Metra news release:

Make Metra part of your spring break

(March 23, 2017) - With spring break approaching, Metra reminds Chicago area residents that it offers several fare programs that make taking the train an affordable and convenient way to travel to all the fun destinations in and around Chicago.

On weekends, Metra's Family Fares program allows up to three children age 11 and under to ride free with each adult. Metra also offers savings for children during the week, when up to three children under age 7 can ride free with each adult and children ages 7 to 11 save 50 percent on a One-Way Ticket.

For your biggest weekend savings, take advantage of Metra’s $8 Weekend Pass. Offering unlimited rides on Saturday and Sunday, the pass can be purchased on the train or via the free Ventra App. The app is available for download from the App Store or Google Play.

Don’t forget about Metra’s rideshare partner, Uber. If you’re new to rideshare programs, download the Uber app and enter promo code METRA2017 to receive your first ride free up to $15. (This offer expires Dec. 31, 2017 and is not valid on uberCAB.)

To make planning your spring break trip easier, Metra offers several travel guides to help you get to a variety of Chicago’s top destinations. Visit this page.
