Railroad worker hurts shoulder applying handbrake, sues KCS for $1MAlleging his employer failed to supervise him, Dean Mayfield is seeking up to $1M in damages from Kansas City Southern Railway for injuries he received while attempting to apply a handbrake.
The suit was filed April 10 in Jefferson County District Court.
According to the petition, on March 21 Mayfield was working for KCS on an “unsafe” locomotive. As he attempted to
apply a handbrake, Mayfield, who suffered from a pre-existing condition, aggregated and injured his shoulder.
The suit accuses KCS of negligently failing to enforce safe procedures and failing to properly instruct, train and supervise.
