The computer forecasting models have shown a low pressure area intensifying in the Cape Hatteras area early Sunday morning. Earlier in the week, the models showed the area far enough east that it was not going to affect the DC area. As the week has gone by, one of the models (GFS) has shifted this rain area west, and has it intensifying. Per the GFS, DC is now within the western edge of the precipitation. Another model (NAM) still shows the DC area rain-free.  This is what causes weather forecasters to pull their hair out.  The real pros have a handle on which model has been more accurate lately, and go with that.  Other times, they hedge their bets and say maybe.  Like everything in that business, it is all subject to change.

I think the mall at Tysons Corner has a covered walkway to and from the Metro Station.  We may need it.

Unless things have improved since the scouting mission in September, the covered elevated walkway from the Tysons Corner Metro Station at that time did not make it all the way to the mall.  At one point one had to descend to ground level, and walk on a sidewalk adjacent to one of the parking garages before entering the mall through a service entrance.  If in four months they have completed the elevated walkway right into the mall, that would be a very welcome improvement we would love to take advantage of.

The local evening newscast I saw tonight in Washington did not give a probability, but seemed awful sure that there would be rain Sunday, heavy at times.

Saturday will be the sunnier of the 2 days, but also the colder.

So depending on the source and the day and the hour, we are getting all different opinions.  Be prepared for anything!

A rainy gray day ride on 2216 to nyp. Today I'm looking out at the sun reflecting off of the buildings in jersey city. Should be a nice ride to Boston on the Acela.
