The Rochester Subway served the city for many years before it shut down on June 30, 1956. While the tunnels were once an artery of the community, they’re now sealed off, leaving many with questions about its history. “Many are not even aware that Rochester had a subway,” said Mike Dow, president of the Rochester & Genesee Valley Railroad Museum. “Bringing that kind of local history to life is what our museum is all about.”
