I put some up too on Picasa, though only one was shot in California. The rest were in El Paso, TX and points in New Mexico during our Sunset Limited and Southwest Chief trips.

And here is my fourth set. No trains in this set, but just various views of the Hudson, from one of my most favorite train rides between Albany and New York. This set taken from the Lake Shore Limited which carried the last 3 remaining Festers to their final destination New York and for two onto Philly and beyond.

It seemed to me that the mix of sun, clouds, rainstorms and yet a bit of Hudson serenity made for an interesting combination, and I hope I managed to capture at least some of it to share with you all, even though the lighting conditions were challenging, specially for taking these pictures from a train that was generally moving along at 70+ mph.

Camera was Nikon D40X, lens was AFS Nikkor 18-200mm VR. Those of you on the Fest saw the combo hanging on my shoulder or neck. :) . All pictures taken from a borrowed roomette across the corridor from mine, thanks to our most remarkable and helpful SCA we had the good fortune of coming across, who did get rewarded handily for the additional troubles that he took to help make our ride on the LSL special and one to remember.

It beats walking around with headphones attached to you for 2 weeks. :D

Just two weeks? I thought he is like a Borg. He has it implanted permanently. There is a special chamber into which he can just withdraw them

I'm currently in the process of choosing which photos to use with the SoCal Fest trip report. It's a tedious process, because as you can see we had many photographers and many great shots by each. I assume that nobody minds their photos being used with our report since they are all up on public photo sharing sites now. Please don't feel bad in any way if few or none of your particular photos are used. My goal is to try to use posed group shots first, then candid shots of participants, and then perhaps some individual pictures. The train theme is maintained, followed by the few other leisure things we do such as meals together.

I seriousness I am happy that you are making progress in the report. For me I just ordered a new video editing program, Sony Vegas Pro 10, High end, designed for the PC so maybe I will get better delivering Video

To put things in perspective, a total of 621 still photos were considered, taken by 7 different photographers. I have now narrowed that down to 81 finalists, and I hope to make the final cuts tonight. I thank everyone who shot those pictures, and for the number of group photos, either posed or candid. A very large majority of those 81 finalists are group shots, and the rest are miscelleaneous pictures of trains.
