Phuket earned notoriety several years ago when a tsunami slammed the island.......so maybe the LRT should be wireless.

This island recently experienced a humungous tsunami, so I would think engineering for LRT would take such a future possibility into account. B)

According to Phuket Governor Nisit Chansomwong, the project is expected to cost 24 billion baht. The project has passed three public hearings, with the first held in December 2013, then in the middle of last year and January 8 of this year.

Considering that Phuket suffered a devastating tsunami several years ago, I would think the system would be a wireless operation.  BTW, at current exchange rate, 24 billion baht converts to: $736 million.

Phuket light-rail EIA to be submitted next week
PHUKET: The Office of Natural Resources and Environment Policy and Planning (ONEP) this week conducted a survey of light-rail construction sites in Phuket and Phang Nga ahead of the office planning to submit the B39-billion mega-project’s Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) next Friday (Jan 26).
