04 Dec 2017 SSL Service Information December 2, 2017 - January 1, 2018

 

Experience the magic of the season at some of the most anticipated events along the South Shore Line from South Bend to Chicago. To ensure we provide the best experience possible to our riders this holiday season, we will be offering additional Eastbound trains and have made our holiday train and ticket office schedules available in advance. Please see the announcement below for more information.

 

Extra Eastbound departures from Millennium Station These extra trains will not serve Hudson Lake or South Bend:

  • Saturday, December 2 – Departing @4:25 p.m., and Van Buren St. @ 4:28 p.m. running non-stop to Hegewisch and making all local stops terminating in Michigan City.
  • Saturday, December 9 – Departing @4:25 p.m., and Van Buren St. @ 4:28 p.m. running non-stop to Hegewisch and making all local stops terminating in Michigan City.
  • Saturday, December 16 – Departing @4:25 p.m., and Van Buren St. @ 4:28 p.m. running non-stop to Hegewisch and making all local stops terminating in Michigan City.
  • Friday, December 22 – Departing @2:00 p.m., and Van Buren St. @2:03 p.m. running non-stop to Hegewisch and making all local stops terminating in Michigan City.
  • Friday, December 29 – Weekday schedule in effect with extra train departing @2:00 p.m., and Van Buren St. @2:03 p.m. running non-stop to Hegewisch and making all local stops terminating in Michigan City.

 

Train Schedule

  • Monday, December 25 – We will operate a weekend/holiday schedule for official observance of Christmas.
  • Monday, January 1 – We will operate a weekend/holiday schedule for official observance of New Year’s Day.

 

Ticket Office Schedule If ticket office is closed please purchase from ticket vending machine (credit or debit only), our mobile app or on train (cash only).

  • Saturday/Sunday, December 23-24 and December 30-31– All offices will be closed except South Bend and Millennium Station.
  • Christmas Day December 25 and New Year’s Day January 1, 2018 – All offices will be closed except Millennium Station.

 

NICTD administrative offices in Chesterton and Michigan City will be closed on Monday, December 25, 2017 and Monday, January 1, 2018 in observance of the holidays.

22 Dec 2017 Holiday Service Announcement

 

 

Happy holidays from the South Shore Line! As a reminder, weekend/holiday train schedules will be in effect Dec. 23-25, Dec. 30-31, and Jan. 1.  

 

Note: There will be no alcoholic beverages allowed on South Shore trains after 7p on Dec. 31.

 

Other holiday schedules and hours are as follows:

  • Friday, Dec. 22 & Friday, Dec. 29: Extra EB train departing Millennium Station at 2p (Van Buren St. at 2:03p), running non-stop to Hegewisch and making all local stops terminating in Michigan City. This train will not serve Hudson Lake or South Bend.
  • Dec. 26-29: Up to three kids (13 years and younger) ride free with a paid adult on all trains during this period. This is in addition to the regular Family Fare schedule. *Reminder: The last car of all rush hour trains is a Quiet Car between Michigan City and Chicago.
