Vic train derailment: what we know so far
THE VICTORIAN TRAIN DERAILMENT:
* An XPT train travelling from Sydney to Melbourne derailed at Wallan, north of Melbourne, on the evening of February 20 after entering a section of track with a speed limit of 15km/h at more than 100km/h
* The crash killed experienced driver John Kennedy, 54, and train pilot Sam Meintanis, 49
* There had been 153 passengers on board the train, with three suffering serious injuries in the crash and another 36 experiencing minor injuries. Five crew members were also injured
* Earlier that afternoon, the points - or movable rails - at either end of the Wallan Loop had been changed so rail traffic was diverted from the main line into a loop track
