Citizens can help with railroad safety
The power to stop a train in the palm of your hand
Smartphones can reach people on the other side of the world, access unlimited information from the Internet, provide hours of entertainment and even stop a train in its tracks.
As of Sept. 1, all railroad lines nationwide were required to post Emergency Notification System signs at every public and private railroad crossing. The requirement was established by the Federal Railroad Administration to make reporting problems and emergencies impacting the railroads easier.

The signs are in close proximity to the crossing and will be visible to the first car stopped at a crossing when they look through their right passenger window. Every approach to a railroad crossing must have an ENS sign.
