Cincinnati, OH Enquirer, 5/23/15:
Oxford Amtrak stop picking up steam
City officials here say they are pleasantly surprised after Amtrak officials responded quicker than expected to the city's proposal for a passenger train stop.
Story is here. I hope Amtrak revealed to all those excited college students that the Cardinal only runs three days per week. It may not be useful for their travel schedules.

Local leaders push for more rail, Amtrak travel
BUTLER COUNTY —
Local leaders are making efforts to add more train stops throughout the Midwest and in southwest Ohio.
Ohio’s passenger rail offerings will be looked at as part of a recently-announced $2.78 million federal study of rail planning in the Midwest, which proponents hope will change the future of travel here.
That, combined with rail provider Amtrak’s thumbs up to plan a train stop in Oxford, might provide southwest Ohio residents with more options for travel to nearby states and cities, including Chicago.

Oxford, OH Patch, 12/19/16:
Will Oxford Finally Get an Amtrak stop?
Securing an Amtrak stop in Oxford has been more like a roller coaster ride than rail service for officials working on a proposal for more than two decades.
City council members will again meet with Amtrak officials on Dec. 20 to discuss a new proposal for a stop near the corner of West Chestnut and South Main streets, which was identified by a committee earlier this year.

Journal-News, Hamilton, OH, 12/27/16:
Oxford commits to funds, support for Amtrak stop
Oxford may spend as much as $350,000 to support a planned Amtrak stop in the city.
The proposed Oxford stop would be on Amtrak’s Cardinal Line, which runs from New York to Chicago. It comes through Oxford in the early morning hours three mornings a week — Monday, Thursday and Saturday before heading to Chicago and Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday before heading to New York — but there is a possibility of expansion of service as part of the Hoosier State Line that connects Indianapolis and Chicago.

Small stop in rural Ohio could have big impact on local Amtrak service, advocates say
Passenger rail service in southwest Ohio is shaping up to be an unlikely story, especially now that both Miami University and its hometown of Oxford earlier this month threw their weight behind a proposed Amtrak stop in the rural college town.
Story is here.
