NBC Chicago, 3/24/14:

Train Derailment at O'Hare Leaves 32 Injured


Thirty-two people were injured — none seriously — when an eight-car Chicago Transit Authority train continued through the end of the platform and struck the escalators leading to the terminals at O'Hare International Airport early Monday morning.

More than 30 hurt when Blue Line train jumps platform at O'Hare


More than 30 people were injured this morning when a CTA Blue Line train ran into a platform at O'Hare International Airport and came to rest on an escalator, an accident that could close the station for up to 24 hours, officials said.

Train Derails, Climbs Escalator at Chicago Airport

An eight-car Chicago commuter train plowed across a platform and scaled an escalator at an underground station at one of the nation's busiest airports early Monday, injuring 32 people on board, officials said.

No one suffered life-threatening injuries in the Blue Line derailment at O'Hare International Airport, Chicago Fire Commissioner Jose Santiago said during a morning briefing.

CTA Union: Train Operator Appears To Have Dozed Off


Chicago Transit Authority union president Robert Kelly says the operator of a Blue Line train that derailed at O'Hare early Monday may have dozed off.

Crews To Disassemble Derailed CTA Train


Chicago Transit Authority officials said they'll use torches to cut a commuter train apart as they remove wreckage from an underground station after a derailment.

NTSB on CTA Crash: "The Train is Not Going to Go Anywhere"


Commuters won't have access to the Chicago Transit Authority's Blue Line station at O'Hare International Airport before Tuesday afternoon.

"The train is not going to go anywhere for the foreseeable future. It's not going anywhere today," National Transportation Safety Board signal specialist Tim DePaepe said during a press briefing with reporters.

Brakes engaged, CTA train not speeding before O'Hare crash


The braking system of the CTA train that crashed Monday was engaged and the train apparently wasn't speeding, a federal official said today.

Surveillance video appears to show Blue Line O’Hare derailment


This video, posted to YouTube late Tuesday, appears to show security footage of the Blue Line derailment that left more than 30 people injured and ended with the CTA train on the platform escalator and stairs.
